Let’s face it — after returning to school from winter break, you probably unpacked your suitcase and left a pile of clothes, toiletries and a slew of random items on your floor. Instead of succumbing to clutter, follow these wellness tips to ensure that your space is in tip-top shape.

Deep-clean your entire closet

This may sound crazy, but taking everything out of your closet and drawers to reorganize will set your room up for a tidy semester. Not only will you know which items you have, but you may come across some items that you wish to donate, give to a friend or take home with you.

Listen to your inner Marie Kondo and ask if the items you are going through “spark joy.” Minimalism may seem trendy, but according to Psychology Today, the practice encourages a peaceful and joyful mind as well.

Create a cleaning schedule

After a long day of classes, creating a cleaning schedule is probably the last thing on your mind. However, it is essential if you want to keep up with the cleanliness of your space.

Plan for one day each week when you can devote at least 30 minutes to deep cleaning. Wipe down counters, fold clothes and reorganize little odds and ends that have been driving you crazy.

Not only will you have an orderly room, but now that you know exactly what time and day you’ll be grabbing the Clorox wipes, you will not have to add cleaning to your list when your schedule gets busy.
