Chateau Montclair, the former Texas mansion of NFL star Deion Sanders, is back on the market after years of ups and downs. Once a symbol of opulence, this estate offers potential buyers a slice of celebrity real estate at a reduced price.

A Personal Palace Fit For Prime Time

Built in 1999, Chateau Montclair was designed to capture the essence of Deion Sanders’ larger-than-life personality during his NFL heyday. Located in Prosper, Texas, the mansion originally graced 112 acres and was a hallmark of extravagance.

The 29,000-square-foot estate features ten bedrooms and ten bathrooms, including an impressive entertainment wing that resembles a private resort. Highlights include a movie theater, bowling alley, basketball court, indoor football field, barbershop, and billiards room.

The luxurious master suite spans 3,000 square feet, complete with a fireplace, kitchenette, jacuzzi tub, and an expansive custom closet larger than many apartments.

Though the estate’s grounds have been scaled back—subdivided from 112 acres to approximately six—the property still ranks among North Texas’ most opulent residences. Once boasting a 12-acre lake and a private dock, the current estate showcases a lavish lifestyle even in its diminished state.

A Choppy Sales History

Chateau Montclair was first listed in 2011 for a staggering $21 million, alongside an adjacent property priced at $7.5 million. The mansion sold in 2014 to developers for $15 million, who subsequently transformed the expansive land into a new upscale subdivision named “Montclair.”

The subdivision’s development significantly diminished the original estate’s size, which now sits much smaller but still maintains its status as a luxurious residence.

The estate returned to the market in 2018 for $14.5 million but ultimately failed to sell. Since then, the price has been slashed multiple times, and it is now newly listed at $5.75 million. A video tour from when Chateau Montclair was last on the market showcases its opulence:

A Rare Texas Trophy

Even with its reduced footprint, Chateau Montclair remains a symbol of luxury in Texas, situated just 45 minutes from Dallas. At its new price, it presents an enticing opportunity for buyers with both vision and deep pockets.

As for Deion Sanders, his focus has shifted to building a competitive college football program at the University of Colorado, where he recently signed a lucrative five-year, $54 million contract extension. While his real estate legacy in Texas may seem larger than life, it continues to attract attention more than a decade after he left.
