Student Government (SG) and the Korean Student Association (KSA) hosted the Middle Ground event virtually, where students could anonymously voice opinions on several topics relevant in the 2020 presidential election. The event was originally supposed to air on Oct. 22, but because of the presidential debate, four 10-minute episodes were released as an IGTV series on SG’s Instagram between Oct. 23 and 27.
The Office of Student Diversity and Inclusion hosted “Campus Dialogue Day” on Nov. 14 in the Brower Student Center. The discussion touched on topics such as universal inclusion and implicit bias in the campus community.
Sears and Vickerman believe that most music education curriculums are largely ignoring the social and historical context of the music being performed. Without that knowledge, the students feel less connected to the music and their education.
