The Lions traveled to Roanoke, Virginia on Friday, March 8 to compete in the NCAA Championships. The team took eighth place overall. Senior Ryan Budzek, junior Dan Kilroy and sophomore Jake Giordano took the competition by storm.
On Saturday, Feb. 23 and Sunday, Feb. 24 the wrestling team traveled to Brockport, New York to compete in the NCAA Regionals, where it advanced nine wrestlers to the finals.
On Sunday, Feb. 17 the wrestling team traveled to Muhlenberg College to compete in the Futures Tournament. The College placed 12 wrestlers on the day with two winning titles.
On Friday, Feb. 1, the Lions took on Centenary University, which they beat 28-12. The next day, the team went on the road to participate in the Messiah College Open, competing against more than 30 universities from the northeast.
Before the wrestling team began its 2018 season, the team competed in a public event preseason match against each other in the Blue/Gold Intersquad on Oct. 26 to determine the team’s starting wrestlers.
The wrestling team traveled to Ithaca, New York on Saturday, Feb. 24 for the NCAA Mideast Regional championship, where the Lions took fourth place out of 17.
The wrestling team had a bittersweet weekend, devastating Delaware Valley University on Friday, Feb. 9, with a final score of 33-5. The next day, the Lions travelled to Grantham, Pennsylvania to face Messiah College, who narrowly defeated the College by just two points.
The Lions, ranked No. 19 nationally, managed to win eight out of the 10 bouts against Delaware Valley, ultimately securing the win. Sophomore Dan Ortega got the Lions off to a quick start at the 125-pound bout by pinning his opponent in less than two minutes. Senior James Goldschmidt continued the momentum by winning his match 8-3 at the 133-pound bout.
