“Over the Moon,” is a new Sony animation film released on Netflix on Oct. 16. The film is directed by Glen Keane and John Kahrs, and provides a very colorful adventure into Chinese culture. The film follows Fei Fei (voiced by Cathy Ang) and her imagination as she works to prove the existence of the moon goddess Chang’e (voiced by Phillipa Soo).
“Hubie Halloween” is more of a comedy than a horror movie. However, the main character does get scared a lot. This movie is great to watch to give a little humor to a long day. It was released this Oct. 7 and can be found on Netflix.
No recent film has managed to penetrate today’s cultural zeitgeist the way the film “Black Panther” has since its debut on Feb. 16. Many factors contribute to what is being dubbed a cultural movement — from the almost entirely black cast on the international stage to the representation of a fictional African country with advanced technology.
One of the most prestigious filmmakers of our time, Guillermo del Toro — most famous for being at the helm of “Pan’s Labyrinth” and “Hellboy” — had something to say to the audience at the Venice Film Festival.
The documentary included commentary from a few of the victims’ families, specifically from the families of 7-year-old Daniel Barden, 6-year-old Dylan Hockley and 6-year-old Benjamin Wheeler. Each of the families discuss how their lives have changed since the tragedy and how they plan to live for their children and honor their memories.
This scene, though it starts off humorous, gets more intense as each moment passes. It is the first instance of social injustice and racism, and foreshadows the gravity of the film, which carries a deep message under its seemingly innocuous themes.
