Since campus closed in March, we have all been living in uncharted territory. At The Signal, this has shed a light on the long-overdue necessity for a total rebrand of our newsroom culture, our mission to serve the community and how that mission is conveyed to our readership.
In the wake of George Floyd’s death, many students from the College have taken to social media to stand in solidarity with those facing discrimination and violence. Other students have faced mounting prejudice themselves. As a news organization reporting information of our campus community, our goal and responsibility is to reflect the emotions, experiences and struggles our community faces. We would like to hear from you.
Imagine a journalism major attending a college without a newspaper or any other media organizations. Unfortunately, that illogical hypothetical was my reality until I transferred to the College in the Spring 2014 semester.
