On Dec. 4, students at the College attended Mckesson’s lecture on civil rights and activism in Mayo Concert Hall. The event was sponsored by the Black Student Union and the College Union Board. During his lecture, Mckesson described how his childhood experiences led to a career in social justice.
Student Government passed a new bill, approved two new clubs for recognition and elected a new speaker of the general assembly on Dec. 6 during its final general body meeting of the fall semester.
The College’s wrestling team had a rough afternoon on Saturday, Dec. 2 at the New Standard Invitational. Out of 17 teams, the Lions placed 11th in the tournament overall, with a score of 43.5 points. Only two Lions wrestlers placed within the top five of their bracket in the entire tournament.
The College’s track and field team kicked off its winter season by hosting the TCNJ Indoor Opener at The Armory Track in New York City on Saturday, Dec. 2. The Lions competed against 12 other teams that included conference opponents Rutgers University-Camden, Ramapo College and crosstown rival Princeton University.
The women’s soccer team came up short in the national semifinals in Greensboro, North Carolina on Friday, Dec. 1. The team earned their first loss of the season to the University of Chicago, 1-0. The Lions end the season with a record of 21-1-1 and a third place finish in the NCAA tournament.
The Lions won their home opener on Wednesday, Nov. 29, defeating Stockton University 95-84. They then defeated Kean University, 76-64, in Union, New Jersey on Saturday Dec. 2. With these wins, the Lions improved to 5-1 this season and 3-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.
A forum to discuss a bill that could help offset the decline of New Jersey’s local news media will take place in Education Building Room 212 on Thursday, Dec. 7.
